Who cares about profit? The gen 1 Viper was a product of the legend Carroll Shelby. The whole idea came from Bob Lutz and involved Lee Iacocca. Gen 3 Vipers were a pathetic joke. Gen 4 were ok but it was the gen 5 ACR Viper that shocked the world nearly as much as the 1992 Viper:)

No power in 1st gear? This bitch is clueless. Not only is the car geared insanely high (60mph in 1st) but the torque curve is very linear. Hence it will walk away from a scat pack and match a hellcat.

Actually, the T56 transmission can be very notchy in 1st and 3rd.

i thought about driving mine home back east from a west coast purchase. the car had been stored many years like this one but decided to have it trucked. I found the cam belts coming apart and had i driven far it would have ruined the engine. always replace or check cam belts and tensioners BEFORE driving especially when they've been sitting and/or the service history is unknown

It is actually a 120 degree flat engine, and NOT a boxer (Like the Porsche 911s, Subaru.) The cylinders do not travel (compress) to the sides of the engine/heads, like the 911. A true boxer is 180 degree, and cylinder heads are out on the left/right side of the engine.

The 58 C1 was the best thing Chevy ever made. The later models never matched the beauty and style of those earlier dream machines. Just my opinion 😮
